História značky ETA
Výroba elektrických spotrebičov v Hlinsku začala 3. septembra 1943, kedy tu pražský podnikateľ Jan Prošvic založil Elektrotechnickú akciovú spoločnosť ESA. Oficiálne sa tu v prvých rokoch vyrábali pre ríšsku brannú moc telefónne rozdelovače k protitankovým batériám, tajne potom jednoduché elektrické žehličky s keramickou vložkou. Podnik mal len niekoľko desiatok zamestnancov.
Po skončení vojny sa výrobný sortiment rozšíril o variče, teplomety a dalšie výrobky. V roku 1948 bola táto spoločnosť znárodnená a začlenená do koncernu Elektro-Praga Praha. Samostatný podnik Elektro-Praga Hlinsko (EPH) sa vyčlenil už v roku 1950. Roku 1952 bola z Rýnovíc do Hlinska prevedená výroba vysávačov, ktoré sa behom krátkej doby staly hlavným výrobným programom podniku.
V roku 1960 si spoločnosť zaregistrovala ochrannú známku ETA v ovále, ktorá sa stala jednou z nejznámejších značiek v ČR a SR. Roku 1991 bola spoločnosť prevedená na štátnu akciovú spoločnosť ELEKTRO-PRAGA Hlinsko, ktorá bola v roku 1993 sprivatizovaná formou kupónovej privatizácie.
Poslednou veľkou zmenou v histórii firmy bola zmena názvu ELEKTRO-PRAGA Hlinsko a.s. na ETA a.s. Došlo k tomu na valnom zhromaždení akcionárov v roku 1996. Od roku 1997 boly majoritnými akcionármi spoločnosti fondy spravované Prvou investičnou spoločnosťou, a. s. V poslednom štvrťroku roku 2001 došlo k predeju majoritného balíku akcií. Od 25. 11. 2001 je spoločnosť ovládaná firmou Plastkov spol. s r.o.
